2nd Mediterranean Conference On Porous Materials, MEDPore 25

Welcome and General Context

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the Mediterranean Series Conference on Porous Materials (MEDPore 25), which will take place in the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco, from May 11 to 14, 2025. This biennial event aims to unite scientists from Mediterranean countries and beyond, fostering collaboration and advancing research in the design, characterization, and utilization of porous materials.

Porous materials such as zeolites, Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), advanced carbons, porous polymers, Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), and mesoporous oxides are at the forefront of addressing some of the most pressing global challenges. These materials play a critical role in energy transition, environmental sustainability, and innovative technologies for storage, separation, catalysis, sensing, and more. At MEDPore 25, we will explore these topics and share the latest scientific breakthroughs.

This conference serves as a dynamic platform for researchers at all career stages to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and engage with the international scientific community. A distinguishing feature of MEDPore is its commitment to:

• Highlighting the work of young scientists and emerging leaders in the field of porous materials.
• Facilitating dialogue between industry and academia through panel discussions on material characterization, scale-up processes, and industrial applications.

We are also pleased to announce two additional opportunities for MEDPore 25 participants:

1. The 4th Laufer Energy Symposium
   Taking place from May 7 to 9, 2025, in Marrakech, this symposium is being held outside the USA for the first time. The event will bring together experts and students to discuss recent advances in sustainable energy, with a focus on Africa's unique challenges and opportunities. Topics will include renewable energy (solar, wind, bioenergy, batteries, hydrogen), decarbonization, electrification, and hybrid energy systems.

2. The Fundamentals of Adsorption (FOA 15)
   From May 18 to 23, 2025, FOA 15 will take place in Porto, Portugal. Organized by the International Adsorption Society, this conference focuses on adsorption phenomena and related technologies. Direct flights from Marrakech to Porto (approximately 90 minutes) make it easy for participants to attend both events.
